da stake casino: It would be fair to say that this season has not panned out in the way most Nottingham Forest fans would’ve been expecting.

da bwin: Instead of fighting for a Champions League place, the Tricky Trees have been left scrapping for Premier League survival with boyhood fan Sean Dyche at the helm.

However, as things stand, the club aren’t one of the favourites to go down, but with West Ham United winning last weekend, that could soon change.

Fortunately, if reports are to be believed, Forest are intent on improving the squad this month and could end up signing someone who’d be like a new Chris Wood.

Forest targeting their new Wood

With relegation from the Premier League a genuine possibility this season, Forest have understandably been working hard behind the scenes this transfer window.

Mega money deals, controversial moves and big-name flops. This is the home of transfer news and opinion across Football FanCast.

For example, the club have already agreed a loan deal with an option to buy for Napoli forward Lorenzo Lucca.

The Tricky Trees have also been linked with a host of other exciting players, like centre-forward Mehdi Taremi and left-back Mathias Olivera.

However, there is another attacker who has once again been touted for a move to the City Ground, an attacker who could be the club’s new Wood.

At least that is according to a recent report from TEAMtalk, which claims that Nottingham Forest are interested in Jørgen Strand Larsen.

The report revealed that while Leeds United have already lodged a bid, they are not the only club ‘exploring a move’, with the Tricky Trees, alongside West Ham United and Crystal Palace, all keen on the Wolverhampton Wanderers star.

In addition to the intense competition, another hurdle to securing the Norwegian’s signature is the fact that the Old Gold want at least £40m to entertain letting him leave.

It could therefore be a complicated and costly transfer to get over the line, but given Strand Larsen’s ability, it’s one Forest should fight for, especially as he could be their next Wood.

Why Strand Larsen would be Forest's new Wood

So, while Wood and Strand Larsen certainly have their differences – what two players don’t – but there are some key similarities between them, and should this deal happen, their moves.

Firstly, it would be another example of Forest going out and signing a striker from the Premier League instead of gambling on a player from elsewhere.

Moreover, it would be another example of the club bringing in a centre-forward at a point at which he is admittedly struggling for form.

However, as the New Zealand international eventually proved at the City Ground, the Norwegian star will also prove that he is a talented forward worth picking up.

In fact, you only need to go back to last season to see that he can thrive in the Premier League.

For example, in just 35 league appearances, totalling 2603 minutes, the “phenomenal” centre-forward, as dubbed by former Wolves boss Vitor Pereira, managed to rack up a tally of 14 goals and four assists.

That comes out to an average of a goal involvement every 1.94 games, or every 144.61 minutes.

Now, in isolation, those are undeniably good numbers, but what makes them all the more impressive is that he produced them while playing for a team that finished in 16th place.

For comparison’s sake, Wood ended last season with an excellent tally of 20 goals and three assists in 36 league appearances, totalling 2979 minutes.

That comes out to an average of a goal involvement every 1.56 games, or every 129.52 minutes, and while that is better, it was done in a team that finished seventh.

Ultimately, he might not be the most exciting signing, but Forest need more goals, and while he’s not been great for Wolves this season, Strand Larsen proved he can thrive in the top-flight last year.

Therefore, the Tricky Trees should go out and get him, as he could just be their next Wood.
